Road trip to Philly!

As a brand new party of five, my husband and I packed up the kids and drove out to Philadelphia at the end of October.  This was at the request of my son for his 8th birthday...seriously!  We just had one weekend (one overnight) but were able to visit Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the National Constitution Center.  The National Park Ranger at Independence Hall introduced the building and the time period and mentioned how one thing has not changed in the over 200 years since the Declaration was written:  Americans hate taxes....they hated it when they didn't have representation in the 1700's and they hate it with representation now.  So true.  I'm going to remind my students of this.

First stop:  Independence Hall

Second stop:  Liberty Bell

Third stop:  National Constitution Center.  First at the Hall of Signers....

and then taking the Presidential Oath of Office!

Welcome to my blog!  I'm excited to share resources that will help enhance your social studies lessons and projects.  It is a challenging time to be a teacher-especially with the demands of the Common Core curriculum.  But teachers must also meet individual student needs like those set forth in IEP's and 504's.  Teachers must also deal with student family situations, health concerns, emotional and psychological issues...and the list goes on.  I hope that I can offer some insight to meet these challenges and that this blog will also become a forum for other educators to share their experiences.  This blog will also provide resources to create social studies lessons that are engaging and fun!
